In 2015, countries adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Governments, businesses and civil society together with the United Nations are mobilizing efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Agenda by 2030. Universal, inclusive and indivisible, the Agenda calls for action by all countries to improve the lives of people everywhere.

The Global Goals for Sustainable Development
Take a look at the following videos:

Leave no one behind

Global and local issues that young people see as the most serious

Task 1:

After watching the videos, write in comments:

1. What are the Global Goals for Sustainable Development?

2. What is the importance of do not leaving no one behind?

3. According to you, what is the most serious glocal issue?
- Give the definition of the chosen glocal issue
- What is the importance of that issue

For example:

For me, one of the most serious glocal issues in Medellín and in many countries in the world is the violence against women. Gender-based violence or violence against women is any act of violence that are committed against women and girls. According to a study of the Free University, over 3.000 women have been abused by their partners or ex-partners in Colombia during this year. It is important to speak about it because if women feel safe in a community, they can contribute to build a better society, therefore a happier world.

Task 2:

Glocal issues workshop 1

Download the workshop and do the proposed exercises. Be ready to solve it in class!

    3. For me it is the union of the people, because we are very selfish and we do not think about others. That’s the problem.

For me. One of the serious problems is the hunger, According to a ONU report, the number of people suffering from hunger in the world amounts to 815 million. In consequence to such problem, we have death from malnutrition in most children, also amounts of external migrations. For example: Many people from Venezuela are migrating to other countries due to hunger.

    1. For me, one of the most serious global issues in Colombia and in many countries is the lack of opportunities to access education. This is the inequality that exists betweem the people in order to have access to a process that allows them to develop their intellectual, moral and emotional capacity to be able to integrate into society. According to a UNESCO study, various obstacles, incluing poverty, still keep out of school 67 millon children from primary school, from those that 53 percent are girls, which shows that gender inequalities continue to impede the progress of education. It is important to speak about this because in this way we can contribute to create basic education programs for people who really need it.

    2. Coming back to the most serious glocal for me, I was listenning and reading a document where explain with more details, the study was made for The World Bank. In this study argues than the poverty is no only lack of money, there are lots of topics around this problem. And I'm agree with them because in the most time the poor people become dependent of the government and these never pay attention their needs. I want to finish this with a question that any partners can answer me: What do we do to improve this situation? What do we need for combat this problem?

    1. In my opinion, the most serious global problem in Medellin city and of many cities too is the irresponsible consumption, because the natural resources will be few for so many citizens from Medellin. The World Wide Foud (WWF) “an international non-governmental organization founded in 1961, that it´s working in the field of the wilderness preservation, and the reduction of human impact on the environment” they are explain us about the iresponsable consumption how the compulsive consumption that generate terrible ecological consequences. WWF points to Americans, Canadians and, to a lesser extent, Europeans Andy South Americans as consumers who "waste irresponsibly", in the case of Medellin for example has been an increase of private vehicles, that´s means a big consumption of natural resources for to satisfy the demand of consumption products, consequently generating more contamination. So, WWF Colombia is working on it.

For me the issue most important is the lack of education around the world. Nowadays more than 72 million children aren't in school and 759 million adults are illiterate, this people live in the poverty because they don't have work and income, and their children probabily have the same live, all this ocasioned by the lack of education. Is important that everybody have education, because the lack of this originate another glocal issues.

3.)For me, the main problem we have is the inequality gap
this given that thanks to the thirst for power, the rich always have more and the poor less and less, which causes the ambition to grow excessively and in the process of losing consciousness and moderation in things

3)Hunger:There is enough food in the world to feed everyone but due to unsustainable and inefficient agricultural practices, food aid, and other aspects of the global food supply not everyone receives the nourishment and meals they need.
      - Its like the first thing we need to advance in life, or just to have one, its really important, this issue is actually letting millions of people behind.
